These Series of fans were developed to provide a compact, high-performance solution, eliminating the typical constraints of centrifugal fans. Their very compact dimensions and the absence of a preferential direction for the generated airflow make them suitable wherever distributed ventilation is required and high pressure losses need to be overcome, or in cases where enclosed, limited spaces need to be ventilated while generating high pressures (for example, enclosures containing electrical and electronic equipment).

The ORV Series is characterised by the presence of a conveyor housing that separates the electric motor from the airflow handled by the fan (e.g. for hot air applications [> 60°C]).

As with the other Comet small centrifugal fan families, the impellers of the OR/ORV Series can be fitted with straight, curved or aerofoil-profile blades, and can be made from carbon steel, stainless steel or aluminium, depending on mechanical or environmental requirements.

The OR and ORV Series fans are designed to ensure forced ventilation of critical components on board trains, where compactness and reliability are essential. They are used for cooling traction motors, auxiliary and traction converters, transformers and braking resistors, ensuring proper heat dissipation under demanding operating conditions. The ORV version, fitted with a conveyor housing, is ideal for applications involving hot (>60°C) or contaminated air, as it separates the motor from the treated airflow, increasing service life and safety. The available impellers (straight, curved or aerofoil-profile blades) and materials (steel, stainless steel, aluminium) allow the product to be adapted to the noise and environmental resistance requirements typical of the rail sector.
